Since last year, Insurgente has been facing a battle against the government. 

After being falsely accused of a series of made up claims, they were illegally forced to shut down their main brewery by officials from the city and Baja California’s Governor, Jaime Bonilla.

Despite the difficult times the brewery has faced by losing access to their brewery, they have been determined in fighting back against this injustice while keeping their staff employed. As part of this fight, they launched a series of Collaborations called #FREEINSURGENTE dedicated  to producing limited edition beers that allow them to stay creative and have fun, while spreading the word about their case. 

With all this in mind, we invited each other to be part of our Collaborations. I wanted to design a beer that not only would highlight the governmental abuse of power that Insurgente is facing but to also represent the ABUSE OF POWER in general that happens around the world.

ESLABÓN X ESLABÓN which translates  LINK X LINK based on a song from the 90s Mexican Norteño band Los Invasores de Nuevo Leon. The song uses a beautiful jewelry language to translate the word UNITY “United like a chain link by link” which I found to be very powerful and to perfectly show that despite the challenges we face, together like a chain we can make a difference
